I have a Johnson 70 horse outboard motor (model J70ELCNB)
and when I was changing the lower end oil I accidently
removed the bearing screw that is between the top and the
bottom oil changing screws.
The local boat shop says that as long as the "O" ring is still
good on the screw to just put it back in.
My Question is (Is this correct)?
Thank-you for any information.
Also what do I gap the spark plugs at?

Re: Johnson 70

IF nothing moved, you may be lucky. Put it back in. You'll know as soon as you try. Otherwise, you have two options.

1. Try to align the shift fork with a small sharp object. This is easiest done with the lower unit removed and laying on its side.

2. Disassemble the lower unit.

Spark Plugs at .030" Champion ONLY.

Re: Johnson 70

Thanks DJ for the information. When i spin the prop in neutral it now has a
slight "Clicking" sound.
Does this mean that I need to disassemble the lower unit?
Thanks for any information.
