Johnson 9.9 year?

As you see in the figures, this Johnson is not in its original form. Model plate (J10BACNS) tells that it is 1982, but because there is no power pack, it must be pre 1978, if I am correct? Can anybody tell me how to figure out the year for the upper part. It seems that there is only white cover (where the original power pack has located) left from the original.

From the looks of the pictures, that motor was probably put together from several other engines of various years to make one runnable motor - a "pieces-parts" type of outboard. It is like the old Johnny Cash song called "One Piece at a Time"

The color of the block and the ET type points ignition system tell that it is a 1974 thru 1976 powerhead.
