Hi, I have a 88 johnson 90 hp vr4 outboard and I'm removing the vro fuel pump and converting it to a regular fuel pump. I already have the new pump and its the 3 nipple pump fuel in, fuel out, and pulse, but it also has the pulse hole on the back and gasket for mounting to the block and im trying to figure out if I use the nipple for the pulse hose do I have to do anything with the hole on the back of the pump or is it fine to run with the hole open. I've already tried googling it and searching the forums but I'm not finding the information I need.

It does NOT have a pulse hole at the back !---I do not believe that hole is drilled through on that pump.-------And on that motor I would use a 2 nipple pump and mount it directly over the pulse port on the intake manifold,----Find that just in front of the starter.

Thanks for the reply, I'm pretty sure it's drilled all the way though because of I blow through the pulse nipple the air comes out the hole on the back

Not going to argue here.-----------I would install the 2 nipple pump.-----Neat and simple to do.
