After finally getting my parts Im ready to rebuild the carb. Question is , how many other parts do I have to remove to get to the carb? I'm going to take pix to help put things back but it looks like a fair size job just to get the carb off.

2 hp or 250hp? Need model number. Sounds like you might want to get an OEM manual. You should be able to look at the engine and see what needs to come off. First you want to take off the cowl, the air silencer, etc......

Why are you " rebuilding " the carburetor ?-----Running issues with the motor ?----If so what other trouble shooting was done , if any?

Well I gave a guy $200 for it to start with. It looked kinda rough too . But I tried it with a shot of fuel and it fired up. So I changed the plugs and got it set up in my bbarrel ....It funs but I. Have to shoot fuel to it so Im thinking its gummed up pretty good so why not.I'm changing the impeller too. I don't want to put a kit in the carb but don't know what else I could do

If you keep squeezing the primer bulb when it starts to die and it picks back up you might want to change the fuel pump too.

Some things are kinda hard to do by myself . My brother helps out when he's around . But yeah , I'll change the fuel pump anyway .

OK , finally got everything done . The carb was actually clean so I cleaned it again got it done , made special care to get it right since its quite a pain to get it off . Anyway I got it rigged up to try . Now when the lines are full of gas , it will pump right through the carb. I was very careful to get the float in right and checked it for levelness too . Im at my wits end here cause I can't think of anything other than the float or needle valve . Is there something this old imbecile is missing ? BTW new fuel pump is on the way too .But again I'm certain it's right or at least what I've done . A million thank you'd in advance . You guys are great!

You need a working thermostat on that motor for the automatic choke to work. There is a manual override, however.
After a carb rebuild, you need to reset the idle mix needle at the top of the carb. Initial setting is 1 1/2 turns open from lightly closed. (Remember to run the water about half way up the shaft in you test barrel, and check temperature at the top of the head. Too hot to touch is too hot to run.

What is the motor doing or not doing after the work you did on it?

Well , like I said the gas pumped up to the carb and then stated running out the carb .. That's what bothered me. I. Tried to fire it up anyway ,and it started . Ran a few seconds and died. I have a fuel pump coming but gas runs out. Like there's no needle valve in it. And I'm. Sure I did it right. Do you know if there's. a way to get the bowl off without pulling the carb. That would REALLY help ?!?

You're sure its not a fuel line leaking at the connection? They need to be secured pretty well.

Sounds like either the float is stuck or the needle isn't seating; most likely the float. Take it off again and see. When you put it back together try blowing into the inlet to be sure it closes, then turn the carb upside down and blow into it again to be sure it opens.

I just had the same problem when I replaced my shut off valve attached to the float and the seat that came in my kit. When I pumped the primer ball, gas ran out of the screen my carb has on the side of it. I took it apart again, and re-did it. Same results. I put my old valve back in and the gas stopped leaking out, I believe I just got a defective valve in my rebuild kit when I rebuilt it. Looked good but it sure did not seat right.
