Well , there was one on the seat when I took it apart so I used the matching washer when I reassembled it. But Ive come to find out it doesn't leak if I leave it off. Is it not to be used ? I don't get that part but I'm going out to put it. back on now . I'll be back with more dumb questions tonight !

OK, I've had enough of this thing. I had it back together and rather than puut it on the motor I held it leave! And pumped it full of gasx...no leaks did it again ....no leaks . Put it back on got it all bolted up......gas runs out . I guess I'll have to swallow my pride and take it someplace and let somebody else give it a whirl ....really bugs me though to do it

carbs are like toilet bowls… if they leak ............the fuel inlet shut-off valve is not doing what it is suppose to do

did you do a blow test .... upside air goes in ok upside down NO air goes in ...the inlet

did you install the float upside down ??? are all gaskets installed including the fat one on the HS jet post at the bottom of the carb bowl...

no major reason it should leak after bolting it unless it is tilted or something like a crack…..

where exactly does it leak ???

are there any cracks on the carb body...LOOK VERY CLOSELY for fine cracks that could open up when bolted on the engine

I'll check again but, yeah empty I turned it upside down and couldn't blow through it . Right side up I could and I could hear it.When it leaks as I pump it up it just runs out the. front. No you couldn't put this float in upside down. Before I took it off the first time it didn't run out like it does now but I must have something screwed up in it. Bad part is ,I've done a bunch of them and never had this trouble . Just seems so simple.

float could be snagging keeping the inlet open ..causing fuel overflow

inlet needle same length as the original ??

adjust engine tilt on the transom to see if the leak stops while pumping

something is not forcing the inlet needle to close properly

is the float properly sealed…

any lead plugs missing ?? I see 3 lead plugs in the carb diagram

btw when my toilet bowl valve won't shut off I bend the bar on the float

sounds crazy but try bending the tab on the float down a bit… and do check needle size

Did you clean the jet(s)? If you look behind the drain screw you'll probably see where a flathead would fit in. It should unscrew, but if not just cover the side port and blast it out. That's actually where the most gunk would sit.
