Re: Johnson control

Hi What
The shift switch mounted in the lower front corner of the control box. You should see a "U" shaped slot-hole there. There should be a rubber grommet to cover the hole, while allowing the shift wires to protrude. There is only one switch used for this, it is a toggle afair. From my serches for these switches I have found them hard to come by and too expencive when I do find them. Other fella's on this board have told me they found them quickly and reasonably priced (other parts of the contry from where I live). I think if you had the switch you could probably figure out how to properly install it on your own. If not, Email me alcan.fixit2@verizon.net and I will try to give you more help.

Re: Johnson control

I found the same switch in my '71 jonny hydroelec control unit. I searched all over and ended up calling the dealer to find it. It was going to cost around $90. I just desgined a circuit with an automotive relay to replace it. I have the schematic somewhere. Email me if you want me to dig it up. I will not be able to resond till next week though.
karrick_hutchinson@yahoo.com

Re: Johnson control

I just bit the bullet and bought one for my 72 100 hp Johnson. Not sure if yours is the same. The Part Number for my year is 385253. Still available from Bombardier OMC, at a pricey $97. They must have thought it was an airplane part!

Russ In Texas
