Johnson impeller question

I test started my boat - After a few seconds i realized the water wasnt coming out of the top - turns out my hose was kinked - So I ran dry for about 10-20 seconds - After I got the water running properly I restarted the boat and the impeller seems to PEE properly - My question is this - Did I do any damage by running without the water for about 10-20 seconds?

Like I said it appears to work properly now but I am a little worried about the dry time maybe chewing up the impeller.

Re: Johnson impeller question

Will probably be ok - just watch and make sure it keeps pumping.

How long since your last impeller change? If it is new and you only ran at idle for a few seconds, it should be ok. If it is old go ahead and replace it. Cheap insurance and peace of mind.

Re: Johnson impeller question

i would not replace it b/c of the fact it is pumping water as good as before , so i belive you did no damage. just keep your eye on it , and if it is constantly in the back of your mind then just go ahead and replace it
