Johnson model number and year

Hi, I want to know where I can find out what the model number tells me. If anybody can help it would be appreciated. It's J35 PLC SM, I take it that this means its a 35hp but is it long or short shaft etc. And can this tell me the year of the engine or does the serial number tell me this S B005986?

P=Power Trim
L=Long shaft
CS=1980
M=who knows

Serial no. tells nothing.
