johnson Ocean Runner alarm

I have a Johnson Ocean Runner 175hp and an alarm sounds after it has been started and idles for about 15 seconds or so. The alarm sounds for about 5 seconds and then shuts off. The check engine light stay on. The water temp guage does not register but the "pisser" has plenty of water coming out. The alrma sounds everytime, even when the motor has been running. The motor has run fine like this without any hic-ups.

There are a number of malfunctions that can cause the CHECK ENGINE lite to come on. The motor had to be hooked up to a computer to get the error codes to find out what the problem is. Most likely, since it is at low speeds and that it doesn't make the motor go into SLOW, then it is a minor problem. Possibly low voltage at idle or a sticky shift interrupter switch.<br /><br />if you don't have the software and a manual, most dealers do not charge much to hook up your motor and give you the readout from the engine's computer.
