Hi all, I have a E25RCLRD (1984) it is the rope start version even thought it has both. the clamp/tilt section needs to be replaced. Where can I find out what years and model numbers will fit it. and if I can use johnson parts on it. if I can I will change it all including the swivel section and if it can be replaced with the electric start version

thanks in advance

Re: johnson parts on a evinrude

Thanks for the info, but here is what im looking for does johnson make a equivlent motor and how many years did they use the same parts. and can I switch it to the electric start mid section because it seems easier to find. Im not going to buy new parts for a 84 motor.

thanks

Re: johnson parts on a evinrude

I think you have the model number wrong. It should be E25RLCRD.

These numbers are all 25 hp 1984 Evinrudes with various different options but would have many interchangeable parts

E25ECRS E25ELCRS E25RCRD E25RLCRD E25RWCRD E25RWLCRD E25TECRD E25TELCRD

The Johnson numbers equivalent are

J25ECRS J25ELCRS J25RCRD J25RLCRD J25RWCRD J25RWLCRD J25TECRD J25TELCRD

The same apart from a J instead of an E The parts are all basicaly interchangeable apart from decals and paint colour

CR are the date letters for 1984 and you will find an explanation of the code HERE

Obviously there will be many parts interchangeable from other years which you can check in the parts lists. Crowley's website has already been mentioned. The BRP lists are HERE and the same info is also HERE

Personally for just checking part numbers I prefer the BRP website

Some parts will be interchangeable over just a few years as minor changes are made. Other parts remain the same for many years

There are also many parts interchangeble with other models. I think you will find many similarities between 20, 25 and 35 hp models.

Re: johnson parts on a evinrude

In the link I gave you there is a section called parts catalog. If you go there and type in the parts number it will print out all models that use that part. Again this is a link to the BRP web site and probably is the same at tashadaddy gave you. A lot of parts site use this link.

It is perfect for an eBayer when it comes to buying parts and the seller only stays year and model of engine. This tells you all models and years the part number is used for.

Yes the "advanced search " does it on the BRP site.

I must admit I had not noticed the magnifying glass on the shop.evinrude.com site but I'd have assumed it was some zoom tool even if I had but that gives alternative part numbers I think.
