Do the motor specific paper Johnson repair manuals take you step by step through fixing things?

I bought a manual on CD of eBay, it is not very helpfull to a newbie who doesnt know what they are doing. And I dont want to waste money one another manual if this is as good as it gets.

You need to buy the original Johnson manuals. Its the best invetment you can make for your motor. I dont recommend the Seloc or Clymer manuals. The actual paper manuals in my opinion are better than the online if just for the ease of reference while working on your motor. The factory manuals give you all the specs and repair steps. You will find that all of the high ranking posters first bit of advice will be "get the manual". It worked for me.
