I'm trying to get my great grandfathers engine running, it hasnt been run for 30+ years. The engine turns over great and i've completely cleaned inside and out of engine, i've used sea foam and everything to clean the carb out and flush the system. Its not pumping gas through and sometimes shoots gas out of the fron t of the carb and gas isnt getting to the spark plugs so i think somethings wrong with the pump. does anyone know where i could get a new pump or a diagram to rebuild the one i have?

First, find out what is wrong.

Go to the Engine FAQs Forum ^^^ and do "Outboard won't start".

Let us know what youo find. :)

Why do you think there is something wrong with the pump? Obviously there is gas getting all the way to the carburetor, or there wouldn't be any shooting out the front of it. Hey, it isn't supposed to shoot out the front anyway.

Fuel pumps only take over AFTER the motor is running. Has nothing whatsoever to do with getting it started as long as priming fuel goes through it.

You need to start over and do some logical and sensible troubleshooting.

Gas shooting out is a float not closing, a clean probably wasn't enough, probably needs a carb kit to get going.

yeah compression is fine. the reason why i think its the pump is because when i take the fuel out hose off the pump and turn the engine over no fuel comes out, the gas only comes out once in a while. its almost as if the pump works a little and then quits out.

Then you have 2 different issues that are not related. Carb shouldn't leak fuel and you should have a pulse of fuel every revolution of the motor.

Also check for a good spark on both plugs and compression.
