Johnson VRO

I have a 1991 Johnson 60 and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a difference between the 1991 VRO pump, and the fuel pump in the newer models, after 1995. The reason I ask is because the new pumps have a rebuild kit available, where the 1991 VRO desn't. I have looked and all other componets in the VRO system are the same, but I can't find anything on the pump itself.

there was a change in the technology and reliability of the newer Vro. the Vro 1 were noted for problems.
