quoted from jtexas:

Reading a Trailers & Towing forum thread about lost wheels reminded me of this.

I keep my boat in a storage yard couple miles away, had it at home last weekend doing some maintenance-type stuff, including changing out a leaky rear seal on the trailer hub.

Standard operating procedure of course is to put it back on the ground before tightening down the lug nuts, but believe it or not I just now remembered I didn't do that. They're just barely tight.

Now, I know I didn't do any harm on the trip back to the yard, but I somehow have to remember to crank 'em down before I take it out again. Might not be for a couple weeks.

That's not part of the routine, how the heck am I supposed to remember?

Jtexas....have you gone and tightened the lug nuts YET???

Oh man I think we may have something here...call it a Safety Accountability Group or something, this is good.

Actually - I'm taking tomorrow off to work on the boat so I can go fishing Saturday...I stopped typing long enough to attach a reminder to my keychain so now I'm good to go.

thanks, Bro!

Re: jtexas

thanks.

Joe Pool. Friday was a honey-do day. Today, spent all morning fitting a new floor & storage bin in the boat, finally got to the lake about 3 - caught a half-dozen of these before dark:

So, lugs are tight, the seal seals, wife's happy, fish are biting, not a bad weekend and still one day to go.
