just bought 1993 pro-v 150

I just bought a 1993 Cajun w/ a 150hp Yamaha Pro-V. It has been stting for some time and I was wondering what I should do before taking it out for the first time to ensure the motor operates properly.

If by sitting some time means 6 months or more clean the carbs. If it?s lean it will destroy it. A year or more replace the water pump and check thermostats.

thanks for the advice. on another note, i am looking for literature on this boat (owners man., service mans., etc). What would be the best source to find this info?

On the motor take the model number to your Yamaha dealer and order a shop manual. On the boat check the manufactures web page and give them a call. Sometimes they have older manuals left over and will sell at a low price.

myself, if its ever seen saltwater I would carefully inspect the shift shaft first, if its ok then compression test.
if ok then clean the carbs,replace the fuel pumps clean the remote oil tank and filter, clean the engine oil tank water trap, replace the water pump with the complete kit, replace the t-stats and the pressure control valve grommet.
clean the engine fuel; filter and if its not there already install a 10 micron fuel water seperator.
if you dont have ethnol fuel yet, you will, and then its fun.
yamah reccomends if it sits over 6 months to bleed the oil pump as well.

By chance can you send me a dimension from the back of th boat to the console or from the front to the console. I put in a new floor and I cannot find my notes on the location fo the console. If you have time and can help me out.
