First nice, no rain day since I put the new water pump in. Ran the motor with new plugs last night for about ten minutes in the drum, purred like a happy kitten. Got up this morning made a coffee and went out gave it a pull, first crank and it started.
Loaded it all up in the car and headed to the river, launched the boat, loaded it, mounted the motor, won't start. I thought I was going to have a heat stroke cranking. Didn't bring any tools, so my girlfriend drove back home to get them.
While I was having my heat stroke/heart attack a new friend, made today, came over with his tool box to help. Yes there are still nice people to be met on the water!
He handed me tools, and I looked it over. Every thing seemed OK.
He asked if it would be OK if he looked, he is a older man, and I have seen him working on his boat often there, and he has several, so I said be my guest.
He checked everything I checked, and then we both took turns cranking it till were both about to have a new set of heat stroke/heart attacks.
My girlfriend came back and made friends with his wife and they disappeared off somewhere laughing saying something about men and their toys..
It then started to rain, so we put everything up. I heard a loud plop in the water and ask what was that. He just laughed. I thought it was a fish. It took me a couple of minutes to get all the tools back in his box and I said where is your spark plug wrench. He started laughing again, and said remember that plop you asked about, that was my wrench. It is now at the bottom of the river. Oh ****!!!!
Loaded the boat back on the trailer and put it away, and the rain stopped. It didn't matter now I was as tired as if I had been out all day.
The girls showed back up, and asked if we were finished playing, and then said we were all going to eat Italian at a river restaurant. We set their eating and watched a bunch of idiots for a couple hours buzz the restaurant dock trying to look cool for us and about flipping the boats that were tied up there with their wakes. One had his trim set to throw a spray about 30ft.
Well I didn't get to go out in the boat today, but in the end we made some nice new friends.
After we came home while my girl friend was in the shower, I thought I would give the motor a couple of pulls in the drum. Hooked everything up pulled the choke, tenth pull, and it started. Turned it off, and after that with every pull it cranked and ran perfect.
She came running to the door, and said what did you do? I said nothing, it just started.
Strange day, but a nice one.
