Does anyone here have a keel guard on their boat, and if so, how hard was it to install?

I am thinking of picking one up tomorrow, and didn't know if I could get it done in an afternoon. It looks really simple, but I was wondering if the material doubled up when you bent it around the bend of the keel.

Also, what type of adhesive do they use for them? It says '3M adhesive', but can anyone be more specific?

Re: Keel Guard

Most of the keel guard kits come with everything you need and it only takes about an hour. You have to scuff the gelcoat along where the guard will go so one thing I've seen recommended is an oil pen to mark the water line (keel guard is supposed to start 6" above the water line) Once you scuff the gelcoat, you start from one end and slowly put it on while removing the backing to expose the 3M adhesive (not sure what kind of 3M it is, but it's strong stuff so don't mess up!). They also have a little roller or something to make sure you get all the air out. That's pretty much it.

i saw a instructional video on installing one, they taped each side of where it was going, so you did not scratch the gel coat, out side of the mounting area.
