I took off the fuel filter and replaced it with the fuel/water separator, does it take the place of the regular fuel filter??? or do I need to use it too? with the fuel filter and fuel/water separator will that make the electric fuel pump work too hard ??

If you used a quality one, and keep an eye on it- it is better.

Do you use both, fuel filter and fuel/water separator??? Didn't know if it would over load the electric fuel pump.

Do you have an internal filter inside the carb?

It's a Mercarb 2bbl the only other filter that I know of is the one screen that attaches to the end of the fuel line into the carb.

IMO, the water separator will suffice. It really acts as a filter, with heavier sediment falling to the bottom. Your filter screen on the carb will act as a back-up. Just make sure you clean or replace that filter every fall.
