Hi,

I just bought a new skeeter bass boat and want to protect the 2 carpeted decks from dirt, water, UV Rays, fish blood etc.

Basically Im looking to scotchgard it so its easier to clean and looks as good as it can as long as it can and is protected well from the elements.

Does anyone have any opinions on what kind of product I am looking for?

Thanks in advance.

3m-303 would work.

my not be for you but I have a plastic carpet runner over the carpet in the cabin- the boat is an 1984 and it still is good.

might look funny on deck.

I would not worry about it. Indoor/outdoor carpet is easy to clean, and you will never protect it from fish blood, unless you never fish or or lousy at it. if you beach the boat, you will always get sand or dirt in the boat. Food wil be dropped, drinks will be spilled, you may even spill your own blood.

Scotchguard will cause liquid to bead up, and run off, for the most part, however solids will be unaffected. There should not be enought fish blood to run off before it sets up.

If the carpet is dry you may vacuum it, after that your best bet is to tilt the trailer tongue high, and scrub the carpet with a brush and some laundry soap, and hose it off. The water and dirt will run off quickly, and the carpet will dry in the sun. Boat carpet will last a decade or so with this care.

If you are going to fish a lot, remove the carpet and replace with vinyl. Think about why dens are carpeted and kitchens are not. What type of room is your boat?
Plus I think a smooth floor feels better under my bare feet in the summer than wet-dog carpet.

I hate to say this, please do not take this the wrong way but... IT IS A BOAT, and a fishing boat at that.
