GET GUITAR HUMIDIFIERS for both guitars and use them for a couple of weeks. Then take the kid's to a good repairman to set the neck and replace any bad frets.

The humidifiers will bring back all the lost tone and protect the wood from the a/c , desert damage.

If the repairman is worth his salt, then for 50-75 bucks the guitar will play better than new.

If yours plays better than his, then your in trouble.
Remember his hands are not as strong as yours, so if YOU can tell the difference, then his guitar just plan sucks now.

Re: Kids First Guitar, 11YO

I think the first thing I learned to play was single pluckin "Ghostriders in the sky". Then I was sure I could play anything!! I learned some cords and then just tried to tune to and play along to songs I liked and had on cassete or LPs. I had a few lessons but found I could learn alot just by practiceing and experimenting. I have a triggerfinger now on my middle finger that is seriously effecting my ability and comfort and it makes me sad. I was thinkin about playin at some bars and resturants if I can overcome my stagefright!!! If your son likes music alot he might become a great player and doing it together along w school, is bound to help him learn fast. If you havent already bought a tuner, you can find tuners for free on google and i think some phones have apps for it.
