I should mention the previous owner wired an electric fuel pump on this and blocked off the mechanical pump hole. There’s wires spliced in at the ignition key for the fuel pump and it also has wires going to an oil pressure switch. Could it be something associated with this?

Your saying it had a mechanical fuel pump and the PO removed it and installed an electric pump?

Yes. It had a mechanical pump he removed and installed electric. Also I’d like to mention after pissing around and checking everything for 15 minutes or so i gave up and just sat anchored for a bit and tried it again and I’m currently running fine again

My thought is the pump has started to draw more current then it use to. After running some time it heats up and draws just enough to pop the breaker

If you install a relay from main battery feed thru a 7 amp fuse it will be isolated

You could install a 7 amp fuse inline with the pump and see if it blows before the 20 amp breaker

Well. Kind of was thinking the same. Either way i bought a mechanical pump and I’m just going to eliminate all the electric pump things added. should be here mid week. I really want to get this running for the 4th

Well back again. After a lot more time on the water yesterday. I’ve narrowed it down to the engine (i think). I had it happen multiple times yesterday which was the first time i was able to actually try and locate the issue. I tried checking all the wires connecting to different places on the engine and after i would kind of wiggle all the connections it would be fine again. That is untill it would happen again. I’m at a loss on this thing and I’m really just considering selling the boat unfixed
