Hi Guys: Well after a year of restoration work I took the little Venture Boat to the water for a trial run of the motor.Backed into the water and boarded the boat and she wouldn't start at all.So I returned home to try to fix the problem and here is the situation as it now stands.

I had to replace the ignnition switch as well as the kill switch as part of the redo of the boat.
On the ignition switch it had 2 post marked M and I put a black wire on one and the other I put a black and yellow wire .Neither terminasl was marked any different as to which went where.
Kill switch was to be connected to the black and black and yellow wires. which was done.
I tried to start the engine while on the muffs and no spark at the plugs. The kill switch was in the run position with the clip in place.after a while I got aggervated and pulld the kill switch like I had fallen over board, hit the starter and she fired right up with the kil switch in the kill postion. The kill switch has 4 terminals 2 marked M and 2 marked C which is for coil and the m is for the mags. I have the bal wire on 1 M terminal and the black and yellow on the other terminal marked M.
Question is what is the problem??I am 77 years old and no longer the sharpest tack on the box if you know what I mean!
Old Dude needs help!!!

This may sound off the wall but you could have a kill switch for a stern drive mtr. Where did you get it at ??

Move the wires on the kill switch to the other set of terminals. Aftermarket kill switches are universal for use with engines that need the kill switch to ground the ignition to shut it off, as well as for engines that need to open a circuit to kill the ignition.
