At least thats what I think it is called.

On my remote console is an "RUN/OFF" switch that connects to a threaded socket in the side of my Merc 200 (20 HP). The connection at the motor has a prong that goes into a hole and I assume it is a ground for the ignition. The prong on mine is broken. The switch still works, but I want to replace it just incase it quits working and I am unable to stop the engine.

Any idea what it is called or where I can get any info on it? Most parts web sites dont mention that part!

Re: Kill Switch

Sounds like you have a "Lanyard Kill Switch"..... One end(Prong) hooks on the motor, the other end hooks to the driver. If the driver falls out.....it kills the engine when his fat a$$ falls out of the boat and pulls the cord/prong. Most of your type are on Tiller models.

Nope, it is a toggle switch on the back of the remote unit, it is clearly electrical in construction. The motor still runs with it disconnected.

The motor is (was) a tiller type, but Starcraft (or possibly the original dealer) added the center console steering system and remote.

Re: Kill Switch

OK, sounds like you have the standard type "Lanyard Kill Switch". That toggle switch should have a black plastic housing over the switch, with the only access to the switch is through the opening at the OFF part of the switch. Your lanyard will have a black plastic loop on the end that slides through this opening and loops over the toggle switch(in the ON position). If you fall out, the cord pulls the loop & toggle to the "OFF" position, Killing the motor. The toggle switch is a stardard ON/OFF and you should be able to buy one anywhere and replace.
