1998 Volvo/GM 5.7L GS

Last night while runnin about 4000 rpm - I inadvertatantly knocked the wires off the back of the kill switch & I believe they may have touched and arched.. The boat immedieatly shut off.. I re-attached the wires and tried to crank her - she fired instantly and revved very high and immedieatly shut off - so I switched the 2 wires thinking perhaps it mattered how they were connected - turned the key - same problem. I then looked for and reset any breakers I could find (2 50's & 1 12.5) & repeated the crank revv veryhigh and die.

After a few tries when I would turn the key the starter woould just go click, click, click.

This morning I pulled it out & put a new battery in - also I pushed the breakers harder & felt like one may or may not have clicked. Then turned the key - it sounds like the starter is engaging & slipping on the flywheel or partially engaging & slipping..

Any ideas? Please help!!
