Re: Kurt, Kurt, Kurt...................
It was more than just "talking crap" to a news reporter, he threatened bodily harm. When you're on probabtion already, your going to be watched like a hawk. You make a wrong move and NASCAR is going to nail ya. Otherwise, why put anyone on probation. And it was a racing event, he was still at the track. Doesn't matter if you purposely tangle with someone on the track, or, have a confrontation off.
As far as reporters staying away from short fused drivers, never going to happen. In fact, those are the guys the reporters are going to seek out. Kurt's comments fell right in the reporter's lap. Kurt just can't control himself. It's not like that was the first reporter to talk to him after the race either. He already did a live interview and talked to other reporters. He probably thought the cameras were off and he could get away with one. Must have forgot about every cell phone can shoot video.
Jeff Gordon? Apples and oranges. Freedom of speech? Can't yell fire in a crowded theater.... You don't have too many freedoms while on probation......
I agree, we need all kinds of personalities in NASCAR. Thing is, NASCAR needs to draw the line somewhere........
while i don't like the Bush brothers, i don't like the way NASCAR is going. he talked crap to a news reporter ! why was that ok when tony stewart did the same thing ? the probation enforcement should be upheld during racing events only. NASCAR is too far reaching with the private lives of drivers and yet they themselves do the same stuff.
i guess NASCAR saying "let boys be boys" only refers to the boys doing and saying what NASCAR wants. all the reporters have to do is stay away from drivers that have short fuses, then the attention wouldn't be focused on the bad stuff.
jeff gordon questioned the "phantom caution" last week when no debris was picked up where it was reported in turn four.... fine him too ? we need the bad boys as much as we need the good guys in racing, if all driver had the same temperament as jr, it would be pretty boring....getting fined and suspended for on track incidents is one thing, but these were words, words directed at a non competitor...a person who sought out bush and got what he wanted....over words....like i said, i don't care for bush, but he was suspended for talking crap....as long as there wasn't swearing, what happened to freedom of speech ?
