do not know much about the procedures, but the navy is now performing prk surgery on anyone who wants and needs it. have not run into anyone that was disapointed- except one guy whose vision didn't improve, but stayed the same. good luck-

As with any surgery there are risks. And I agree that laser surgery has helped many severely myopic patients. It appears at least that you've done your homework and found an opthamologist that has the latest in laser technology.

The machine you mention actually performs two functions. It not only does the laser but it also does your refraction. There is a seperate machine that actually cuts the cornea. By having the same machine do both there is less chance for error between the refractor and the laser machine.

thankfully, with all of the many medical probs that I have, I have great eyesight ... a girl friend of mine had me look thru her glasses once, instantly I had a headache, everything was blurry ...

suddenly I understood the horror in the voice of some people when they ask Where are my glasses????

what I dont get, is how in the helll are you supposed to stay STILL while they LASER your eye??? they strap your head down and immobilize your eye? I would hate to be blinded by a blink or a cough or BREATHING while they are doing whatever they do!

pain in the asss or not, glasses dont seem too bad!

Several shots of Jack Daniels CastawayRay.

Kidding aside, I'm probably going to have it done, so I asked my nephew, who has had it done, how to "sit still".

They numb the eye they are working on and then have you stare at something fixed on the ceiling with the other eye. It only takes a few minutes per eye.

Of course, some now have "Tracking" lasik that can keep up with movements of the eye.

He says the most dangerous part is resisting the urge to rub your eyes aftarwards, since they are a little irritated, especially during sleep. You can do some real damage here. They do give you some fancy eye patches to wear for a few nights.

Never met any eye surgery patients yet, that still wished they wore glasses.

Marty
