Mrs. QC has had a rough go her whole life in many ways. Here is a list of some, but not all, and the latest:

Her brother Steve died when she was 18 (she is 45 now), electrocuted on stage when he touched his lips to a microphone, I think he was 24ish and left a son and pregnant wife.

Her Mom died a year after I met her, 1984ish. Liver failure from years of Alcoholism.

Her brother David died when he was about 40 around 1992. He had a heart attack while on a fishing charter. Nothing the crew could do.

Her father died in 1995 of either a drunken fall or bash in the head from a wrench. Autopsy was inconclusive, but he had a way of angering people . . .

A couple of years ago we hear that Terry the widow of brother Steve had died. Not sure under what circumstances.

A year ago we hear that Larry, the unborn son from brother Steve was in Prison on drug charges.

Yesterday we get news that the first born son of brother Steve had died. His name was Steven and this news was delivered by a fax from the LA County Treasurer and Tax Collector to her nephew in Havasu. Mrs. QC did some detective work today and Steven died from a combination of a Speed addiction and Aids.

I know this sounds like it will be followed by a punch line, but it is all too true :'( I don't even know what to say to her. She is pretty upset, but also quietly dealing with it as always. She is mostly down because he was so alone. Steven was gay and had been kinda missing for the last 6 years and he wanted it that way. It is, however, dredging up all of the old Steve stuff and the constant tragedies. I, on the other hand, have never had a family member die of anything but really old age, so I am pretty incapable of true empathy.

QC,

You still have you and your direct family.

Cherish her.

Be there, be understanding, and this too will pass.

I'll say a pray for her, for strength and healing, and one for you for wisdom and understanding. Even though sometimes it seems like it, God never gives us a greater burden than we can bear. Her burden is certainly great.

I am so sorry to hear of her tragedy, I'm all about being self sufficent but at a time like this I think some therapy with a professional may be in order. It helped me a lot at a time in my life when I felt pretty hopeless. My prayers go out to you and your family.

She must be quite a gal, QC.

She seems to have risen above a terrible family pattern that killed many of her relatives.

I have known families that have a pattern of tragedy and don't pretend to know what causes the phenomenon, but I really admire individuals who break the pattern. The manner of death of her parents might be a clue.

I sympathize with her grief. I lost a sister to Leukemia in 2001, but she was nearly 70. It really tore me up because we, like all of my family and descendants, were very close. I still miss her. . . a lot.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people carry a far heavier burden than others. Your wife seems to be one of those people.

I have had no experience with death other than I hope to face it as little as possible.

Prayers sent to you and your wife.

Re: Latest Mrs. QC family tragedy

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers. JB and POINTER have hit the nail on the head. She is very special, and determined to break the cycle for her kids. I am just kinda floatin' along avoiding anything painful so far. She still has the brother in Havasu who is not as close to breaking the cycle, but has raised three great kids. We'll see them this weekend, and we'll be on the water, actually both will help her get through this . . .

Very sad news indeed QC. You wife must be a very strong person to have survived so much tragedy in her life and still have her sanity. My thoughts and prayers are with her now.

Boating is the best way to take her mind off of this for awhile. Good on ya.
