Re: Launching a 30' Scarab??

Thank you for the info on Edgewater and 72nd. My friends have smaller boats that we always launch at either Rocky River or Miller Road in Avon Lake. I have not been to edgewater in many years. I am actualy in Parma just south of 480.
Josh, I'll keep you in mind for the service work. I wont be home till March. Now for the fun of making arrangements from the middle of Afghanistan and a timezone diff of 9 1/5 hours. I still have to line up a trailer. Its currently sitting on blocks.

As someone who uses a Tahoe to tow, it is NOT enough vehicle for the type boat you are describing!

I really don't think a 2010 tahoe is up to the task of hauling this boat. That tahoe has 3.08 gears, and seem very underpowered with the 5.3 in 4th, 5th, or 6th gears. Also the weight is 6500 lbs dry. You can probably put another 1500 lbs in gas in gear in that boat bringing you to the max trailer rating. That's also a really short wheelbase. Personally I would never try that. I think you should consider an upgrade. Be safe out there.

Let's go back to the original post. The Scarab has an 8' 6" beam, so she'll be fine over the road, as far as permits go. The key will be the manuevering room at the ramp, and, as has been pointed out, the "break", or where the ramp transitions from the gentle slope to the steep slope, where a long trailer can get hung up on the beams just aft of the winch stand. But I wouldn't worry about that, I used to tote around a Proline 35 Express, triple 300 Vrods, tower, on this big***** triple axle Myco, and on all but the lowest tides, she would go in smoothly...
