Ok, I know I can be lazy in the morning but my 89 125 force has got the same bug! The starter motor is slow cranking for the first 5secs or so, all battery terminals are clean etc and solenoid is ok.
My local parts dealer thinks it's the commutator and it's best to buy a new motor at £160 ($240)!!
I'm hoping it may just be the brushes but wondered if you guys have had similar experiences?? and can help to save me my precious cash which I need to fuel it up this summer!!
Thanks from England
P.S. Keep up the good work and send some sunshine over!!

Re: Lazy Force Starter

I would recommend having the starter rebuild. It will cost about $65-75 dollars.

I always use a dab of lubricating oil on the shaft. You can use your oil mix for this. A few drops on the armature shaft every few weeks.

Make sure the battery is fully charged. You did mention that your connections were clean.

Again, get it rebuild. It will save you some dough.
