Re: leaded fuel
Things have changed a lot since 1973, Bansheetaz.

In 1973 the only unleaded fuel available was 80 octane "white gas". Most outboards were recommended to use that. The 115 OMC engines didn't like octane that low, so they said use leaded regular, which was around 87 octane.

The unleaded 87 octane regular around today, even with a bit of ethanol in it, is a lot better for your engine than any leaded gas.

Tetraethyl lead does nothing for any 2 stroke engine except raise the octane. It did a lot for four strokes of the day by lubricating valve stems.

Bottom line? What happens if you run unleaded is that your engine will run better, develop fewer deposits and last longer.
