k so i had just gotten this boat and i just repaired the large crack in the side of the block with jb weld and i put everything back together and fired her up and much to my surprise not one drop out of the side where the crack was. but now i have water coming out of what i would call the bellhousing and is being thrown around by the driveshat. so please any info on this will be very helpful. so come on guys let me hear the bad news. all i wanna do is get this thing on the water but i dont think its gonna happen. also another newbie question is the water supposed to come out the center of the prop? cause theres no water coming out of the prop but it is coming out the holes on the out drive on the transom. theres a hole one on each side of the outdrive.
thanks in advance

Ayuh,......

There's either another Crack, or the Coreplugs were blown out at the back of the Block....

Either way,.... The Motor has to come out....

Sounds like a casting plug came out on the back of the engine maybe.

As far as water exiting, there are two exhaust idle relief ports at the bottom of the transom, it is ok for water to be exiting out there and and not as much out the prop. If no water is coming out either place then shut 'er down quick.

Hey pa
Little confused, is the motor back in the boat?
If so the watershould come out of the holes on the outdrive, won t come off prop till you have more pressure on it or till its in the water, you said "bell housing" there is a bell housing on the inboard side of the engine but water should not be coming out of it, you may want check your oil make sure there s no water in it, if so repost, could be an intrusion issue.

Bond-o and I hit enter at about the same time, his post makes more sense...with water coming out the back of the engine it makes little difference if the rest of it is being routed correctly:(

no water in the oil at all. it is at correct level and is the right color. yes i am talking about the bellhousing on the inboard side. looks like it is coming out at the top of the hole in the bellhousing and being thrown around by the driveshaft. so exactly what all is involved in pulling this motor? anyone know of a good step by step write up on it?
thanks

1. Remove drive
2. Remove and label all wiring
3. Remove hoses as required
4. Remove bellhousing bolts
5. Remove engine mount nuts
6. Discover stringers are rotten
7. Hoist engine out
8. Discover transom is rotten
9. Repair stringers and transom
10. While engine is out is a very good time to replace coupler.

To reinstall, reverse above, BUT you will absolutely have to have an alignment tool to align engine.

first off what are stringers. second why would the transom and stringers be rotten. where might i get ahold of an alignment tool?

don't worry... you may find out everything on the last above in due time. and don't mind Bomar76 paying homage to Murphy, I'm sure he ment the mild sarcasm / humor in the most friendly of contexts...

the truly ironic part is he's usually right...
