Re: Leaking boat

I will pull the engine so i can get a good look at the transom through the engine bolt holes if it looks good i will make sur eit is dry. I will also remove all thru hull fitting and clean them and reseal with 3M5200. Is there any particular I need to use where the engine bolts on. I have a strange feeling that I am going to find maybe holes that hollowed out from wear. If i do this i want to make sure i do it right. Also if my engine is not running proper will that have any thing to do with water finding it way in. I know I am going to have to tune it up before it backs to the lake.
I am having problems getting the speed I need to get the boat to plane. I have checked the prop and ny book calls for a 13X17 it has a 13X19 on it and it is a 90 hP Evirnrude, I will do a good tune up on it I know from the reading i have done the prop is a important factor in the handling and the speed of the boat.

Re: Leaking boat

Different boat but,I went from a 19 pitch to 17 as it preformed horribly also, hard to plane, loose power in turns, ect. After I went to the 17, a whole new animal showed up for the show! Up to plane fast, perfect performance all around. I bought the boat used, and I think they sold it for lack of preformance, which I suspected upon buying. I just happend to know why it had it's issues before buying.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... For the Performance issue, go back to the 17" prop, it sounds like the 19" is Too Big,...

For the water leak,...
If it's takin' on water as yer runnin',..?? Vs: sittin' at the dock,..??

If only while Runnin', or tryin' too,...

Inspect the Rub Rail, very closely,...

I've seen separations that'll take on massive amounts of water in short order,...

'n bassboat rub rails are really low,...

Re: Leaking boat

I second the pitch downgrade..I have a 90 and 115 crossflow and switch between a 13x15 and 13x17 depending on the days plans, weight, passengers and where I'm going. Makes a huge difference. The 19 pitch on my setup runs like a dog.

I will check all of that in the spring, but I am going to replace the prop to what manufacturer calles for. I when i get back in the water i will check sitting at the dock and then running.
