I have a small leak while motor is running. I still get plenty of water flowing out of the idle relief vents. By small I mean a fast drip. I plan to go out only a half dozen more time before I winterize it. Will it be okay to run it until then? Should I expect any proformance issues by letting it go? I have a spare off of an motor i got for parts, but I rather have a new one. Is this correct:

I read Frank's post a few weeks ago on how the repace it so I should be good there.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Leaking exhaust boot

I had the same problem before and it took me almost a month before finally realizing it was a leaky exhaust relief boot. The only symptom I had was rough idling or lower idling while in the water compare to on muffs. The water coming out of the boot is already used cooling water or referred to downstream of the power head so it should not affect your cooling. So I guess as long as the idling is still acceptable you can wait until you get the new parts and replaced it. And as Frank mentioned before, you will be better off removing the lower leg cover to do it properly.

Re: Leaking exhaust boot

JB his motor's listed right there.

Yea,Tom that's the part.
Real easy to fix.
Does it have a hole or tear?
Or just misaligned?

If your boats ever been in salt water ???
Then the screws need some attention NOW!!!
Start spraying with PB Blaster or some kind of penetrating oil.
Seems even with oil I break at least one.
Oh yea a rubber hammer comes in REAL handy!!!
