Got a pump ordered. This I dislike most about working on a boat is there aren't any parts stores nearby. It isn't like I can just walk into an O'Reilly and get whatever I need. Gotta twiddle my thumbs while I wait anxiously every time I order a part haha. I guess I will work on wiring up the safety switch while I wait.

Yeah 9 psi is high for a carb. The GPH rating is free flowing at 0 psi. the GPM is not that important. Any electric fuel pump is going to be adequate for that carb as far as GPH.

So my fuel pump came in. I wired it up to check that my carb isn't flooding. It isn't. Yay! I'm trying to figure out where to mount it. I can't put it where the old one was because it sticks out too far. Can I drill into the stringers and bolt it that way? Not sure if that would even work. Not sure where else to put it. I know it is to be within a foot of the motor. Is that ANY part of the motor?

Ok so I got the fuel pump installed and ran it on the muffs. Idle was a little rough and high. I adjusted the idle speed screw and brought it down to range. I'm getting some smoke...thinking it's white smoke...out the exhaust. It doesn't die at idle anyhow. It ran fine on the muffs. Even after warmed up. We took it out and put it in the water ,and it was idling at 2000rpm. I backed out the idle speed screw all the way with no change. I tightened the choke, which put it back under 1000. On the water after a bit, the idle went back to 2000, and I couldn't get it down. Any ideas ?

Ayuh,.... Adjust the throttle cable so it's slightly pushin' against the idle adjustment screw,......

Went to adjust the cable this morning ,and it had a had time starting. It wouldn't start with the cable disconnected ,so I reconnected it, but I can't get it to actually idle at all today. It chokes and dies almost instantly. The exhaust is really smoky and it seems to suck air (air suction noise) on occasion and if I crank it and stop cranking before it starts. Also seems to pulse. Here is a video of it running. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XcZvdGz8ACZnxfh66

So I noticed the choke want opening..I took off the electric choke, and the exhaust turned clear ,and the boat ran wonderfully. I got the high idle fixed now. Looks like I need to test the choke.

Choke doesn't seem to be opening at all. I tested the wires, and they showed a strong 13 volts, so I guess I need to replace the electric choke ?Is this something I can get at an auto parts store or is this special marine as well? I just hate waiting for these parts to come in 😅.

pull the choke heater off and hook up 12v to the terminal and clip an aligator clip to the end of the bimetal spring and hook the other end to ground. Mark the body with a sharpie where the end of the bimetal spring is and see if it moves after a minute or so. If not, then choke heater is bad, if it does, then check the choke linkage to make sure if can freely move. If so, then reinstall and make sure its adjusted properly.
