Re: leaking gas

welcome aboard,
sounds like the carb float may need adjusting.
squeeze primer bulb and look to see if any gas
leaks out. not familiar with the '96 model, but
my old inline 6 115hp used to leak right out of
the front of carb when not adjusted properly.
good luck,
M.Y.

Re: leaking gas

My '97 125 will leak a very small amount if tilted excessively. There should be a gasket along the lower edge of the airbox to keep any fuel from leaking out. Any residue in the airbox will mostly get sucked back in to the system when running at higher rpm's. With the design of the gasket, it seems as though merc knew the carbs would lose a little fuel when tilted. Check & possible replace your gasket. Try stuffing some papertowels below each carb while tilting the motor after shutdown to determine if one of your carbs is leaking more than the other three. I have wondered with the 2+2 system if the bottom two carbs hold excessive fuel after shutting down below 1800 RPM's and that is where most of the fuel comes from.?? Hearing how you just had it serviced, the gasket may have been damaged or didn't seal up when they re-installed the aibox cover. Check that first.
