Hi guys it's me again, 1972 125hp johnson. I was running the engine tonight adjusting the carbs when I noticed something I've never seen before. There was a very very small bit of water coming out underneath the flywheel. It was on top where all the cylenders are angled toward the flywheel. Underneath the flywheel and beside the distributor. As the fly wheel is spinning around you can see from between what looks like some kind of seal that there is water dripping up and out and then it eventually dribbles down the side of the motor. I'm totally confused I didn't think there were any water passages around there. Is this a throw back from the headgasket or some other craziness all together? thanks.

There is a flat plate at the top of the block just behind the crank that covers the water passage. Perhaps that gasket is leaking.

I'll have another look, if that's it, is it hard to change, as in does the whole block come apart or is it a farely easy to do?

The cover plate itself is a piece of cake, no problem. It is just a flat plate bolted to the top of the block. Don't know from here what might be in the way of getting at the bolts though.
