lean fuel

i rebuilt the crabs and still running lean and mess one piston what can cause it to run lean i have taken it apart and rebuilt twice no dirt and carb very clean float are correct

ok admiral i'll give you all info rebuilt the engine and one of the piston melted when i took the heads off the corner of the rest of the piston were a little melted it's an eveinrude 235<br />1979 like i stated the carb was rebuilt it happen when i ran it at high speed and yes captain i've tried to search for the cause of lean or denotation and got no where maybe instead of insulting you could use your energy to help

See service bulletin 2063 dated 12/82 for fuel pumps, and hoses. Orignal pumps and hoses did not supply enough fuel. Should have OMC needle and seat in carb, some aftermarket may not flow enough fuel. Service bulletin 2159R1 dated 10/86 timing must be retarded 4 degrees from orignal spec for 88 octane fuel, otherwise 91 octane required. Check diode in power packs.

Not familiar with this particular engine but any time I hear "lean mixture" I think "air leaks"--check everything downstream of the carb--manifolds, reed block, anywhere the engine can suck air can cause lean mixture. Good luck, Rich
