Got hold of a two batt. volt meter. I'am going to mount it in the bow by my trolling batt. to keep track of the charge. My question is since its a two batt. I would like to be able to check out the batt. in the rear of the boat. Not wanting to run more wires than necessary, could I hook it to my nav. bow light which is off the rear batt? I realize I would have to have the nav. switch on to complete the circuit before volt meter would work. Any one see any problems with doing it this way? Thanks for your help..

Re: led voltmeter installation

It will work but you will be measuring something less than true battery voltage. You will be measuring voltage at the light. Since you have the NAV lights on, that would drag the voltage down a little as well. That long run of wire to the rear will result in some loss depending on the size of the wire. For a rough estimate however, it would be ok.
