Boat and trailer are looking really good there, sguerrero! I like the black/white paint scheme a lot!
Lots of options on the interior with the open bow, planning any changes to the original configuration?

Re: let the fun begin just bought a 70 super sport

Thanks erwinner, I'm not totally sure what I am going to do with the interior, I found a post on here that I think I might try and mimic.

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=269684

I have a tube bender, but since mine started out with two side consoles, I don't have the center console to work around, so my thoughts are to make my tube frame the frame of my console and then sheet it with aluminium. I'm also considering making it so that I can take the top portion of the T-Top off and have hoops that you could then place between the tubes to keep it structurally sound, as well as give you grab rails as you walk by the center console. I'd like this so I can fly fish off the bow and not be worried about the T-Top. I've got it roughed out in my head, but I need to get it drawn out and get some measurements figured out.

I want a casting platform at the bow, with storage in the floor, and a leaning post for a drivers seat that I can store a small marine cooler under and have rocket launchers fastened to the back of it for rods. Then three post mounts along the back for seats, one on either side and one in the middle. I might have storage under the center console for tackle, but for sure I'd like room for my starting and trolling battery under the console. The floor will be 3/4 ply encapsulated in resin or I'm thinking I might go with one of the poly\rubber non-slip two part paint kits. As for the interior lighting I plan on using the small automotive LED accent lights that are out, they seem to have every color under the rainbow and they're pretty inexpensive. I have the NAV lights from the boat still so I plan on reusing them, because they're pretty cool looking, as well as the old spot light, I'll figure out some place to mount it, once I get all the guts redone, it was a mess, but the glass is still good so it's going back on some how.

Electronic wise I don't plan on having anything but a depth gauge in the dash and a battery monitor which I can switch between the two batteries. I'll have a bow mounted trolling motor and fish finder and that's it.

All in all it should be pretty bare bones, but functional. or at least that is the hope. I have until March to figure it all out, I want to be done with it by then so I can take it with me to Florida for our spring break.

Well it has been a while since I posted, thought I would catch you guys up on what I've been doing.

I built my center console and my leaning post, here are some pictures. I went with a leaning post so I could have a place for my cooler. My plan is to buy the cushion for the top of the cooler for a little comfort, but seems to work well as is.

I can only post 6 images at a time so I'll post a few more updates.

Also, sanded and primed all the interior to accept the Raptor, I plan on using Gluvit for all the seams, and the Raptor as a protectant and non-skip surface for all the visible parts of the interior.

The center console with be wrapped and also covered in Raptor, which should mean easy clean up after a day of fishing and some long life of the structure.

I cut and paste a very large update because of the 6 picture limit they got out of order, sorry.

I got my floor covered, I used Cetol on the bare plywood and then prepped it and covered it with Raptor a tintable bed liner top, bottom, and the edges. Except where they join, my plan is to use a biscuit cutter and join the pieces together using gorilla glue.

I've got a lot to do and not very much time, I think I'm still on course for a test run in about 3 or 4 weeks, but we'll see.

Re: let the fun begin just bought a 70 super sport

Well it was a fun winter project, I had to put in a ton of time at the end to get it buttoned up, but it was worth every penny and all the late nights tinkering with this little thing or that.

Here are the last few pictures of the boat.

on its maiden voyage:

Lights mounted and tested:

I decided to go with all LED lights on the boat, it was a little more expensive, but I think it'll pay off in the end. These are car running lights I found at AutoZone $29 a pair. They swing 90 degrees so I can point them straight down as shown or out to hit the water around the boat.

Leaving the house in Fort Myer for a day of fishing:

The house we rented had a boat dock so we kept the boat in the water all week. We managed to fish everyday but the last day, everybody on the boat caught something, Reds, Jacks, Sea Trout. We had a blast and the boat handled everything we threw at her with no problems at all.

First fish caught on the new and improved 16 SS:

Thanks to all of you that helped and didn't know it, this Forum was a life saver. If I didn't have all this information at my finger tips I would have never started this project let alone finished it. I stalked this Forum for months before I ever had a boat, and it paid off big time. I love my new to me boat.
