What he may have done that is legal on his own time is nobody's danged business.

If you like his show, watch; if not, well, you can guess the rest.

This philosophy could, and should be applied to MANY other aspects of live too!

Re: Letterman

I thought his Palin joke was funny , oh NO

So did I! His "forced" apology was more than a little tongue in cheek too! Besides, he's a late night talk show host, not the Pope. I seriously doubt Letterman really cares what any of us think about his moral fiber anyway!

Re: Letterman

Sorry, but with all else that's going on in the world, this one falls into my "So what? Who cares?" bucket.

Well, then go ahead and close down Dockside Chat unless its related to current events and world affairs then.....not:eek:. Its just a current event that is talked about all over society. not everyone has to agree with it, thats for sure.

Re: Letterman

So whats the deal?
he had consentiuall sex with women in his office, and someones trying to extort money out of him.
as long as he didnt pull a (B.C ), and do it on his wifes time, so what?

In any organization, the boss having sexual contact with an underling is bad for a lot of reasons

- could be a form of sexual harassment or abuse ("have sex with me or I'll fire you")
- exposes the company to a range of possible lawsuits, e.g. discrimination ("I was passed over and mary promoted even though I'm a better performer, because she had sex with dave", or harassment ("it wasn't really consentual - I was afraid of the repercussions if I refused")

Bottom line, any time there is a power differential in a sexual relationship, it does not matter if it is consentual, it is technically abuse. In most companies, what Dave did is grounds for dismissal, because if the company does not fire him, they are implicitly condoning this behavior and thus much more likely to lose any lawsuits. This is what at least part of what the guy was extorting Letterman for - potential loss of his job. No idea about the timing of these encounters in re: his girlfriend/now wife, though that is probably part of it too.

People who post up "who cares" in threads like these contradict themselves, because OBVIOUSLY they care enough to read the thread, and type up a response LOL.

The only one that should be caring is his wife of six months. If he was copulating with another co-worker with in that time, then she would have him for adultry, dollar signs for her and lawyer.

I do agree.....I've been waiting to see if they produce a timeline of the events, but it doesnt seem likely for now. If it was while he was married, thats not cool. but it kinda seems like it was before then.

Re: Letterman

Now that this has come out.... anyone of the women doing a sex harassment lawsuit? He was their superior and this would make tabloid heaven. Also would wipe that smug look off his face.

So you're hoping he gets sued because you think he's smug?:confused: Something's not quite right there!
