Lewmar Pro-Fish 700 Windlass

I have a Lewmar Pro-Fish 700 Windlass installed on my boat. It has developed a problem where the freefall operation does not work........and when I hit the down button it really draws alot of current and loads down the battery. Seems to work fine when in the "power mode" and the plunger is pushed in on the gypsy.

Hope someone is familiar with these.........may need to disassemble some and add some grease???
