Link and sync on a 60 degree looper 6 cyclinder

I had a question about when the timing advance should start in relation to the throttle body cam position. the way I have had it set now, the timing begins to advance a good bit before the cam begins to move the throttle body linkage. I would think that you would want the throttle body to begin to open up before the timing begins to advance or at the same time.
the way it is set now my throttle cable is adjusted all the way to the back of the threads. If I back the timing roller off just a little I can make the throttle body begin to open at the same time the timing begins to advance.
I am not having any trouble at lower rpms though, just can not seem to get my motor to go beyond 5100 RPMs, I was wondering if this had anything to do with it. here is a post. I set my roller as demonstrated. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread/357667-throttle-roller-timing-arm-adjustment-60-motors

book said that the timer base and the throttle linkage should begin to move a precisely the same time. in order for me to achieve this there will be about a 1/2 gap in between the timing roller and the timing base.

??????????????

Are you saying that you have 1/2inch throttle travel BEFORE BOTH the throttle roller and the timing rollers both pickup and begin moving their respective linkages?

If so, then restart your link and synch, DISCONNECT the throttle cable, do your link and synch, then adjust the cable to the motor.

it turned out to be about fat 1/8 inch not 1/2, but that is with the throttle cable fully adjusted, can not turn the cable adjustment any more, out of threads.

There will be about 1/8 play in throttle cam the throttle shaft roller, it is designed this way. The only way you could get more is if cam was redesigned and this prevents overthrow of throttle shafts. A 60* is a easy set up and link you posted is the correct way..

The throttle cable adjustment has nothing to do with link&sync. That is the last thing that gets adjusted and all others should be done with the throttle cable disconnected. Get a service manual or I gurantee you will be doing this wrong.

I did adjust the throttle cable to the linkage after sync...had to adjust it all the way though..

So the problem remains that there is NOT enough adjustment in the timing roller to bring it in to contact?

I can get the timing roller and the throttle body cam to make contact at the same time by leaving about a 1/8 gap between the timing cam roller and timing body. motor seem to be running good now also.
