Little black spots on vinyl?

Does anyone know what the little black spots are that show up on vinyl? And have you found a good way to get rid of them? Nothing I've tried seems to work. Can't even scrape them off with my fingernail. It's not mildew or just plain dirt. Almost seems like a little spot of tar like substance, but is pretty smooth to the vinyl surface (not raised up).

Sounds like it's black mold that's in the vinyl material itself. I had that before and kept cleaning it with clorox and it eventually went away but still left a stain.

Had those on my golf cart seats. Cleaned them with bleach, but they still left a light yellow stain. I re-painted the vinyl with duplicolor vinyl paint about 18 months ago and haven't had any bleedthrough or wear. If you're looking to brighten things back up, or change colors i highly recommend it. Way better than the stuff from a few yrs ago and haven't seen any new mold on the re-do.

I've just noticed the same thing on my seats. Kind of showed up overnight. I clean my boat after every use, and it's not left out in the weather. They look like a little burn mark except you can't feel anything and it won't come off. Strange.

heard that works great i dont know where to find it. i'd try mold and mildew cleaner works wonders on the white vinal bimini i used to have. spray on give it 30 seconds and wipe off repeat 2-3 times and it will be as white as it will ever get with out painting, useing a white sharpy, ect..

A grocery store cleaning aisle would have the magic eraser. Near the sponges. It's from arm and hammer - so look for the bald head (and it's a blue/white box) :-D

From the description it sounds like spider crap. It's tough to remove.
I spray a little Ortho Home Defense Max around the boat a couple times per year.
Seems to keep the little critters away.

Sounds like fly poop! We get alot of that out here in farm country. It should clean off with a little elbow grease.

I live on a lake with a pontoon, sail boat, little mercury mouse, and a Tahoe Q4 SF. Just as summer gets close all these little creatures are making their mess on our boats.

Little black spots are spider pooh Degreaser cleans it off and a good oil base bug cleaner/killer will keep them away. Hope this is helpful!

I actually did give this a shot while I was cleaning mildew off the vinyl, but it didn't seem to work. Magic eraser and a basic vinly cleaner sure does work on mildew though, came right off.

Pretty surprised to hear the spider/bug poop theory, but guess I'll give a degreaser a shot.
