Someone is selling a 1977 Starcraft Mariner, Aluminum Center Console, 18.5 feet
1987 Mercury Classic 50 outboard (rebuilt 2008)
Cox 18' trailer with 2008 tires
$1300 Cash
The seller says the boat does leak a little, but stays dry with a bilge pump. Guess it has a couple rivets that are missing. Can they be replaced or fixed??
Does this sound like a good deal? This will be my first boat purchase and am looking for exactly this kind of boat. Thanks.
Here is the whole posting:
An ugly boat but a great fishing machine.
It's an excellent skiff for 3 fishermen, and it's casting platform works well for flyfishing too.
Runs in 14" of water. With seating for 3, it's stable and has a high freeboard. Rated for 5 people.
I rebuilt this boat from the deck up in 2008 using premium marine mahogany plywood
and stainless hardware, so the wood is good for many years to come.
It's a light boat, and launches easily with one person.
Currently on the trailer. Happy to crank it up for you. Sold as-is.
Here are the details:
Mercury 50 outboard completely rebuilt in 2008 by Noyes Enterprises
Carbs rebuilt 2009 by Riverfront Marine in Amesbury
CMC power-tilt rewired 2009
Onboard 2005 Raymarine VHF
Onboard Humminbird Fishfinder and GPS, speedometer
Ritchie lighted compass
New console 2008
New deck 2008
Electrics fully rewired 2008
New carpet 2008
New battery 2009
New Teleflex steering 2009
New Fuel filter October 2009
Three 6-gallon portable fuel tanks
Anchor with 50' line
3 Storage areas
Bow rail
Electric bilge pump
2 fire extingushers
Gunnel rodholders for two rods
Interior rodholders for 5 rods
Clean title
This is a wonderful little skiff. It does leak some, but bilge pump keeps it dry.
There are a few rivets missing in the hull, as you might expect for a 33 year-old boat.
It needs paint to look nice, but runs fine without it.
