Hi I am unfortunately having to get a new long block for my 2006 Four Winns 210 Horizon. It currently has a 5.7 Volvo Penta Gi-F motor installed and a broke crankshaft to go with it;( . I have been looking at getting a long block to swap out with the old one. Due to the fact I am not really up on a lot of motor work I am going to have to bring it to someone and let them do it. This is what brings me to my question. As I have been looking up rebuilt blocks most of them are Vortec and some places ask if they are one piece main seal. Will a Vortec work for my motor? I hate to order it and the mechanic tell me it wont work or it will cost alot more to use it. And how do I tell if my engine is one piece main seal or not? Thanks for any help

If you are getting a long block. It doesn't matter what your motor is. Your engine is getting replaced with a new one.

You already have Vortec heads, therefore you already have a Vortec engine. You can just get a short black and use your existing heads as well.

If you do get a new long block, make sure you get one with Vortec heads.

Your current engine is a one piece seal. All GM small block V8s 1987 and newer had one piece seals.

Perfect! Thanks guys I was really hoping to hear that it would work. Now on to ordering so I can get this boat back on the water where it belongs instead of on my trailer in my yard

All 1996 and later motors have the vortec heads.

As bruce indicated 1986/87 was the change to 1 piece rear seal
Roller cams came in 1988/89
Vortec heads came in 1996/97

(Two years listed above because the first year is when the change was made at the engine plant and the marine builders may have had stock of prior year motors)
