Thanks for bearing with me on this one. lol. Original question ... How to remove the upper driveshaft from the v6 lower unit? I see a retainer on the parts diagram. It looks like the same part # (338504) on both units. Can I release it from above and avoid having to pull the carrier and pinion nut of the lower driveshaft?
If I do remove it and replace it, along with a 20" shaft, 20" exhaust spacer, 20" shift rod and bush, and 20: water pump bits will bolts line up and it work on my short shaft (v4) motor?
