I am looking at a 94 Sea Ray 200 Signature Bowrider with a 5.0LX. It had a new transom in 2006, new floor and reupholstered in 2007. Any opinions on what to look for? Or should I walk away?

New floor and transom give strong probability the stringers needed done then or do now,,,,

I would question who did the work too. If it was some guy in his backyard I would be very cautious. Depending on what he is asking and how much you have you may be able to do better.

Yea, the issue would be why just the transom and floor. . . . How did the stringers escape those issues . . . Or didn't they?

best to have a look at the stringers and see if it is all good.

We own the same boat though it has not had a motor in a few years. (Summers are with the deckboat so it has not been a priority)

It is a smaller version of Frisco's boat so I followed that resto thread pretty closely. I can see a similar project in my future since the boat, while covered well, has been parked for a while.

I am pretty sure if I replace floors, I better have a sound reason that stringers and new foam were not needed. If I did the floor and transom to sell my SeaRay, I would provide photos, video, and a survey to show the prospective owner that the damage stopped at the floor and transom. As an owner of the same model you are looking at, I am pretty skeptical that the damage was limited to the floor and transom.

One thing I have replaced on our BR200 is the back wall of the cockpit area. Why SeaRay used poorly protected wood there in an area where water accumulates is beyond me. I cut a replacement and had it Rhino lined.

I suspect that my project will look more like Frisco's.
(Or Jay may wake up to smaller version of his Ray parked in his driveway):D

i would walk away unless the owner has pics of the stringers being replaced.

plenty of mid 90's and early 2000's SeaRays out there

With the same boat, that is the standard I would expect to be held to. Show me that you replaced the stringers and foam or prove to me that you did not have to. Without either, I would expect a prospective buyer to walk (unless I priced it accordingly to accommodate that added expense to the new buyer)

I thought exactly the same when I read the comment too. If it was done by a Forum member, it would be better than manufacturer!!
