Looking at a new project

I came across a nice looking 16' Starcraft project that I can pick up very cheap. The hull looks to be very clean and solid, there is no interior and no engine which isn't a problem because I already have one I can put on it. The catch is the paperwork. There is none!
I was able to contact the state DNR about this and they provided me with an address and ph# of the last person it was titled to. The question becomes is it worth the hassle and leg work to acquire this boat. While chatting with the DNR I forgot to ask the year and model but here is a picture of what I'm looking at.

Sure it's worth it if it's priced right. Do you want a 16ft closed bow?

Actually the idea is a quick flip. Already have most everything to put it together. Yes the price is very right. I'd give the asking price just for the trailer.

I gave the number the DNR provided a call and there was no answer though I did leave a message and a return ph. number so I'll see where this goes. Any idea what year and model this might be?

If it has a typical 12digit HIN, it's post 1972, I'm not sure when the laplines and side spear lower rubrail was discontinued but I'm pretty sure it was in the mid-late 70's.

So I'd guess a mid 70's Jupiter. I don't think they introduced the 16ft Holiday until later. There were a few other 16ft aluminum SC's built, but I don't know the exact specs or the differences, but I think they made a Viking and a Viscount 16ft SC's

Look thru the Starcraft brochures in the sticky at the top of the SC forum. It looks like original vinyl paint, so that should help w/ the ID. Windshield looks correct for mid-70's too.

Thanks jb!
I figure it would be a nice way to have a little fun, clean out some of the acquired parts in the garage and maybe pick up a little cash.

bonz d - if it is a Starcraft I would say a Early 70's Holiday 16, but the glass doesn't look right.

Here in Michigan a bill of sale listing the trailer and boat and a donation to the state has always worked for me on smaller boats. We don't title boats unless they over 22 feet or something like that. My 21'er doesn't have a title.

Best of luck making legal.

Haha. I just saw that boat on the same site you did. Caught my eye. But no worries. I'm between jobs at the moment. In East Troy, wi.
