Need some help please. I am on vacation and have run across a possible boat for my 175 hp mercury black max. It is a 81 Regal Regency 21 FF with a blown engine (200 hp Yamaha). It appears to be a solid boat, needs a lot of cleaning. Transom is solid. The deck is firm, does it have wood under the fiberglass? It is on an aluminum EZ Load trailer (rusty hardware). The boat has been used in salt water. Trailer tires will have to be replaced to get it home. It has a been setting outside for about a year since the engine blew up (rod through block). It is tilted to the rear for proper drainage and is not holding water. New steering cable and fuel filter had just been installed before it blew up. Has plastic 80 gallon fuel tank that is almost full (what a waste). Does this type boat have a good history? I can probably get it for under a $1,000. I need some advice on this please.
