Unless your filling that boat up with water, I doubt your even close to 3500#.
If it was that heavy, I would bet the trailer is way over loaded. My guess, is your not much over 2000#.

I think I'm about 2000# empty, correct...add in a weeks worth of family 'stuff', full fuel tanks (it has 2) and I think 3500# is a good margin of safety...
